Peace agreement

The end

After the election of President Eisenhower, it was clear that a peace agreement would have to be achieved. Eisenhower implied that he would consider using the atomic bomb to bring the war to an end. This implied threat seemed to be what was needed to bring the long-standing negotiations to a conclusion. After a final fury of battles, an armistice was signed on July 27, 1953. The agreement brought about a final cease-fire, and solved the difficult problem of prisoners of war.
